Coatesville Poised to be Home to Chester County’s Hottest New Venues

The city of Coatesville is poised to become home to the county’s hottest new venues. A joint venture called Midway Arches is transforming what were formerly two church properties into modern and functional spaces for the community to use for a multitude of purposes; such as weddings, special events, meetings and other gatherings. The duo venues that make up Midway Arches are St. Cecilia’s on 99 North 6th Avenue and St. Stan’s on 209 West Lincoln Highway in Coatesville. The properties sat vacant for some time, until New Heritage Properties and Activated Capital saw their potential and came together to revitalize the two sister sites. Community members, local business owners and state, county and local officials recently gathered to celebrate the grand opening of Midway Arches and catch a glimpse of the transformation.

Joshua Burrell of Activated Capital and co-owner of Midway Arches said, “We’re excited about the future and re-emerging from a global pandemic even stronger than before; this project demonstrates the capacity for how collaborative efforts can lead to major results.”

When they first set off, the Midway Arches team was looking to not only just re-develop the property, but to intentionally develop community and get individuals excited about what is going on in the city. Joshua expressed that the collaborative effort between his team, community leaders and the City of Coatesville has facilitated the meeting of minds and elevated this project into completion.

Commissioner Marian Moskowitz attended the event and stated, “This is one of those projects that required thinking outside of the box to get it done; that is what Coatesville has been striving for and doing.”

The larger of the two venues, St. Cecilia’s Event Center, is home to an event space with stunning vaulted ceilings, outdoor options, a neighboring bridal suite and lower-level meeting rooms. On the other side of the city, St. Stan’s is a boutique-style venue for more intimate gatherings. A longtime venue coordinator, Jane Darnell serves as the Director of Marketing and Events at Midway Arches and explains, “The venues were renovated with our clients in mind. The redesign of the space was done by designer Beth Elvanian, and is an attractive neutral palette that allows our clients the flexibility to create an event in any style they choose.” The venues have a full line-up of preferred caterers and recommended vendors but also allow outside vendors.

Representative Dan Williams toured the space and said, “This building is not just a place. This is a place where pictures, memories and vows will be taken and years from now this space will be significant in the memories of men and women that have occupied it in our community. It is an honor to be a part of the development and continued transformation of our city.”

Midway Arches and the upcoming projects by the partners, New Heritage Properties and Activated Capital, strive to be the catalyst in enhancing the opportunities and options in the city.  Midway Arches Co-owner Crosby Wood said, “We at New Heritage Properties appreciate working in concert with Activated Capital to help drive the revitalization of Coatesville.  The opening of St. Cecilia’s is a nice step in showcasing our progress with many more project openings to follow.”

The partners are also the developers of the Flats Project in the city. The Flats is a 30 acre, 50-million-dollar project set to develop a sports facility. This project aims to build Coatesville into an international destination with a transformative impact on commerce and opportunity for generations of residents.
